TAT confident grand number 2011 Phuket Veg Fest

PHUKET: The current economic climate has no effect on the Phuket vegetarian Festival this year, says the Director of the Regional Office of the South of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The festival last year generated approximately 500 million baht revenue to the local economy, said the Director Bangornrat Shinaprayoon.

It expects this event to year?s, instead of September 29 to October 5, to generate about the same.

“Asian travellers are always interested in the festival.” Last year, officers of neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia tour had packages specially for vegetarian Phuket?s Festival so their tourists could meet with vegetarian and pray each shrine.

“I think that this year the tour agents will do the same,” said Director Bangornrat.

“Accommodations in Phuket Town have the advantage of being close to activity,” Director Bangornrat noted.

Wichit to open the first “community dialysis centre” in Phuket
