PHUKET Aquapark is going to be a brand new water theme park located on 40 rai of land in Kathu.
The project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in time to welcome in the New Year.
Thai and Hungarian investors are expecting the park to cost at least 500 million baht.
Aquapark will contain a large variety of water activities as well as other adventure games such as cliff-climbing, a 20 metre climbing terrain and beach volleyball.
65% of the whole area will be allocated for water activities and 35 % would be other facilities like restaurants, shops, a fitness centre, massage parlours, photo booths and Caribbean bars.
They are hoping for 2500-3000 visitors a day, and up to 4000 for big events and celebrations.
Safety obviously comes first and lots of thought has been put into the safety features of the park. A medical centre will be on site just in case.
“Our slides and chutes are being built to strict international standards,” said Mr Isvan Kuti, one of the Hungarian investors.“We also plan to ensure that our lifeguards are very well trained.”
To ensure that the equipment on the park is always in good condition the activities will be open for 9 months and then closed for 3 months for maintenance work. Upgrades to more modern equipment can also be done during this time.
“We chose Phuket because it has a good climate, wonderful scenery and we felt there was room for a large theme park of this sort here. “Our slogan ‘Be a child again’ hearkens back to the time when you are young and you have no worries and no stress and just want to have fun. We want our Aquapark to help you relive some of that feeling.It will appeal to everyone on Phuket so we have to choose an entrance fee which is fair to everybody,” Mr Kuti said.
“We want our Water Park to be the pride of Phuket. We have a new design of sliders which you will not see anywhere else in the world.”
The entrance fee is going to be approximately 600 per person but this has not been finalised yet.
The park intends to have many different kinds of pools, such as a children’s’ pool, an adventure pool, a relaxation pool, beach pool, wave pool and even a 1km waterway for boats.
